Applying Differentiated Instruction in Elementary Classrooms: Practice and Reflection of Student Teachers

Differentiated instruction has a direct impact on the quality of teaching in inclusive classrooms. For student teachers, their ability to plan and apply differentiation is factor transformation from dependent an independent teacher. This study examines teachers’ practice differentiated meet diverse needs elementary students including English learners. The participants completed survey, planned taught lessons, wrote summative reflection areas improve after teaching. results indicated that group preferred use some strategies more than others differentiate instruction. However, application same varied how instructional activities were organized level participation. Analysis revealed focus assessments learning. teachers would like further develop by exploring not only teacher perspective but also through self-assessment promote active participation self-directed findings recognized importance comprehensive applying support as result completing Implications for preparation are discussed.
